This week’s guest post is the wonderful Yecheilyah Ysrayl, author of The Nora White Story who gave up her time to answer some interview questions! Enjoy.

EC pictureQ01 – Have you always wanted to be a writer?

Thank you, Ari, for having me and yes, I’ve always wanted to be a writer. It’s one of those things for me that has always been constant in my life.

Sometimes as small children we dream of careers completely different than our ambitions as we age. Maybe we start off wanting to walk on the moon to see if it’s really made of cheese and then grow up and want to be a teacher. I was not that child. I have always wanted to be a writer in some form or another before anything else.

Author PhotoWelcome!

Please introduce yourself.

  1. When did you start writing?

First, I’d like to thank you for this opportunity. My name is Yecheilyah Ysrayl (Yecheilyah pronounced e-see-lee-yah) but most people just call me EC, and I started writing when I was twelve years old.

  1. What motivates you to write?

Reading is actually a big motivation for me to write and always have been. There’s something about looking at how others have written that makes me want to write too. But, more deeply, life in general is a big motivation for me as well; my experiences, good and bad, my journeys, my revelations, and my sorrows. My Author Interview with Dottie Daniels.

dottiedaniels's avatarThe Write Perspective

Hey.

Here’s another author (she’s a poet as well) who also has a page here on WordPress. I consider myself and anyone else aware of her to be pretty lucky already as this author has a pretty powerful perspective and is more than capable of articulating her experiences and thought processes as it relates to the cultural upbringing of the African American experience. Her name is Yecheilyah Ysrayl and I had the pleasure of doing a Q&A session with her a few weeks ago. Below is the interview along with her social media contact info.

  1. I’ve read you were born in the South side of Chicago (so was I!), what were some of your earliest memories?

Hi Dottie. First, I want to thank you for taking the time to meet with me today. Yes, I am from Chi-Town indeed. Since I’ve been in Chicago for the better part of my…
