Familiar with Linda through her blog, Life in Progress, I expected humor. What I didn’t expect was to finish the book in two hours. Everyone knows I love a good laugh, and Linda did not disappoint. All Good Stories is a romantic comedy about friends Jupiter and Xavier and takes place mostly at the bookstore where Xavier works. From the onset, we can tell there’s a bit more heart invested on Xavier’s part. The cute way Jupiter shortens his name, the way he dreams of being with her, and the added bonus of being her best friend.

However, Jupiter’s got a new novel. It wouldn’t be so bad if it didn’t lead her to Bob the Blogger, a novelist and blogger obsessed with alliterations whose profile picture looks nothing like the real him. After a steamy three hours of commenting back and forth with Jupiter, Bob has agreed to critique her novel. He has written her three love poems with the added warning that he will not use the first letter of her best friends’ name (because he’s a Serial Alliterator and X just wouldn’t go well with his alliterations) and has given her his phone number.

Bob’s weirdness causes Xavier’s growing love and concern for Jupiter to thicken into a hilarious investigation. Plus, what’s Jupiter’s book about anyway?

I enjoyed the pacing of the read and that it continued toward the end. It’s a short read, but it didn’t need to drag on beyond what the author gave us. It’s like a literary treat if ever you’re waiting at the doctor’s office or airport and could use a good chuckle or two.

This book is not only a comedy but also has an important message. The seriousness of meeting people online and of rushed relationships has been the focal point of many books I’ve been reading lately. All Good Stories is definitely a good story and well-written.

The Waking wiped out entire countries and changed the structure of normal society that collapsed when the dead came back to life. Well, sort of.

On the other hand, however, there are The Chosen, people who died and came back with lifeblood flowing through their veins. Unlike the Woken, The Chosen still maintains their humanity while possessing the physical strength and superhuman power of The Woken. While self-sustaining communities exist, the threat of the undead caused organizations to form to help to protect the living.

In book one, Samantha is promoted in The Watch Academy when rescued after being attacked by a Woken. With one human and one chosen per mission, the plot thickens, and tensions rise when Samantha and her team discover secrets within the group. With Chosen struggling to be accepted by their human counterparts, Samantha has no idea how deep the rabbit hole goes. Woken, Chosen, Human, it’s a war of the worlds in Anna Kopp’s Rise of The Chosen.

What struck me about this story is that it could have gone in so many different directions. The concept is so interesting symbolically that I saw it from so many different perspectives. It could have followed the typical walking dead theme as a zombie book, but Anna shook things up. I love the concept of having a group of people chosen to carry the lifeblood in their veins that are humanity’s saving grace. This alone, the action and the mystery of it all will keep you reading until the end.

Free Book Reviews – New Policy Withdrawn

Quick update on my recent Book Review Policy:

Due to further thought, study, and research, I am withdrawing my readers fee from my reviews at this time. Though my reviews have ALWAYS been free, I recently implemented a readers fee to help dedicate time to the flow. However:

Due to Amazon’s strict policies, paid reviews can cause red flags for Authors and as a result, cause them to be banned from their Amazon accounts. Though methods are not clear, Amazon utilizes varies tactics to get this done. Making up the bulk of an Indie Authors sales (up to 80%) I do not want to increase, in any way, an authors chances of being banned.

I must reiterate that my reviews have always been free, however I don’t want any confusion, or take any chances, over the fee. I am humble enough to accept it was a bad move.

My main website will reflect these chances as soon as I am no longer mobile.

6 Month Book Birthday Review Challenge – The Road to Freedom

I am sooo inspired by this post I just read! I also found it even more inspiring since I just published a post about reaching out and asking. Too bad I didn’t see this one until just now, I would have used it. Well, it’s either now or later. I’ll go ahead and use it now! First, here’s the link to the post. So following my recent post on asking. I’M ASKING FOR YOUR HELP. No, not a blog tour. More like a challenge.

I am trying to increase my number of book reviews on Amazon for The Road to Freedom – (Click Here to Learn What This Book Is About) in celebration of its 6 month birthday! The 3rd Book in the Stella Trilogy (also read as a standalone) was born on February 26, 2016. August 26th will make 6 months. In celebration, as I finish up the manuscript to my next book, I’d like to have a little fun. Right now I’m at the humble number of 8 Reviews. I am trying to at least make it to 15 which is just 7 reviews away! I know, I know, who am I? Well, nobody. But, like, you can help a nobody out right? Anyways, I have 3 Options for those who’d like to help:

Time: Time is a valuable resource. For this reason, I am pleased to know it will not take up so much of your time to read this book. It’s only 65 pages long. Yea, you can read it in one day if you wanted to. That’s right, if you hate it I haven’t wasted much of your time. Though I seriously doubt you will ; ).

Deadline: I am asking for the reviews to be in no later than August 15th.

Serious Inquiries: I respect everyone’s time so I am asking for serious inquiries only. I have sent free e-copies of my book out before and I’ve never gotten a response back. Please only email me if you seriously want to read the book and are willing to provide an honest review. An honest review means you don’t have to like it, you just have to review it. The only true thing we have is our word. I don’t want to send my book to those who have no real intentions of helping me. Why The Right Book Reviews are So Important for Authors

Very interesting article here. We are all familiar by now with how important Book Reviews are for authors. We are also familiar with how damaging a bad review is. As a Book Reviewer, I can admit that I only read certain genres. My restrictions are not large, but there are a few books I will not read. I also have my specialty area (African American History / Literature), or the books I especially enjoy reading. What’s the connection between book reviews written by those who are not particularly fond of your books genre? Is that why the reviews are so negative? Is your book reviewer actually enjoying reading your book? Are you targeting the wrong audience by having someone who does not particularly like your books genre to review your book? This article is a must read!

Before The Week Ends: Book Review Registry

Before the week ends, I’d like to inform my Authors reading that I have set up an online Book Review Registry to make it easier for you to sign your books up for a review. Book reviews are free. The readers fee doesn’t kick in until October 3rd so if $20 is not something you would like to pay in exchange for an honest review (completely understandable. I’m not trying to get rich or anything) you can always sign up NOW while there are no fees. I have decided to charge a fee only to cover time. I love reading, I love writing, and I love promoting authors. Unfortunately,  my time would not allow me to do it as often as I’d like. The little time I do have require me to be as organized as possible to ensure I’ll get them done. I don’t want to promise anyone anything I can’t deliver on.
