Yecheilyah’s Book Review Registry: Early Registration for 2022

My review registry is closed for 2021. I am only reviewing books left in the queue. However, please do consider registering early for 2022 as spots fill up fast, and there’s only one me.

What is a Book Review?

A book review is a form of literary criticism in which a book is analyzed based on content, style, and merit. A book review may be a primary source, opinion piece, summary review, or scholarly review. A book review’s length may vary from a single paragraph to a substantial essay but can also be as short as a single sentence. Book reviews help encourage readers to purchase a book, act as social proof, helps with an author’s Amazon ranking, and increase the book’s visibility.

About Yecheilyah’s Reviews

I have been a professional book reviewer for five years now. Authors who have trusted me with their book babies vary from newly, first-time Self-Publishers to experienced Best Sellers. From Indie Authors to Traditionally Published, I’ve worked with them all. The PBS Blog has been on Reedsy’s list of Best Book Review Blogs since 2017 as one of its vetted catalog of active book blogs and thoughtful, quality book reviews. My reviews are honest and thorough without giving away spoilers.

“It’s not just because she reviewed my novelette, All Good Stories, and gave it 5 stars, I’m writing about her because she gives great (and helpful) reviews. In a market so full, it’s hard to choose what to read, isn’t it? We really need reviews these days that go beyond the minimalistic “I liked it” to know what we’re investing our money in. Because money doesn’t grow on trees. Neither do books anymore, for that matter.”

– Linda G. Hill, author, All Good Stories.

How to Apply for Review

1). Email the First 3 Chapters of Your Book.

Starting January 2022, I will now require authors to submit the first three chapters of their manuscripts for review. Whether your book is chosen depends on how well you can hook me with your first few chapters. Be sure to send the link to your book on Amazon along with your chapters to yecheilyah@yecheilyahysrayl.com.

2). Approval

I will email you back and let you know if I would like to move forward and review your book. Please allow at least 2-3 business days before you hear back from me for your approval status.

3). Pay the Readers Fee

If I choose to review the book, there is a reader’s fee. Pay the fee through my site. The reader’s fee does not guarantee a positive review, nor is it payment for an Amazon review, which is against Amazon’s terms of service.

4). Gift Me a Copy of Your book.

If your book is published gift it to me through amazon or the platform of your choice. Do not attach a PDF or Word Document via email.

  • PDF documents are only acceptable if the book is not yet published and you are looking for an early review.

You may ship me a paperback / hard copy but let me know this in our email correspondence.

Pro. This option will allow me to post a picture of the book on the gram!

Con. This option is a longer turnaround time on the review since I have to wait for the book in the mail, read it, and then review it. This is a great option for more exposure on social media, but I do not recommend it if you are in a hurry for feedback.

I rate on the scale of 3-5 only on this blog. If your review falls below a 3-star rating, I will privately email you the report and my thoughts.

Ready to move forward? Email me and let’s get to it.

ATTN. Authors: Blog Book Review Policy Reminder

Good day everyone! I hope you are all doing well. I want to send a quick message to the authors/writers’ reading.

Over the past month, I have received tons of requests for book reviews. Many of you are contacting me through the contact form on this blog.

These submissions tend to go into my spam. If I see them at all, it is weeks and sometimes months later.

Please do not contact me about book reviews using the contact form. This includes if you were referred here from Reedsy.

Instead, please go to the Blog Book Review Policy page here.

This page will tell you all you need to know about how to schedule a review from me.

Note: The registry is currently closed and won’t reopen until 2021. Reviews you see until then are reviews from authors who scheduled them months ago. (Or books I have read on my own time.)

If you would like to RSVP for a chance at being reviewed, follow the steps on the policy page under RSVP for 2021.

Again, please read the Book Review Policy in full. Do not email me before reading the policy and do not send requests through this blog’s contact form.

Derek Murphy | Why Amazon is deleting book reviews: understanding Amazon’s new review policy and how to get back deleted reviews

Very good breakdown from Derek on understanding why Amazon is deleting reviews. Nobody took me (and others) seriously when we said it was not wise to include the words, “I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.” Maybe you’ll listen to Derek:

“So it’s fine to give copies of books or ARCs away as long as you don’t require a review in exchange. Jennetta Penner recommends language like “I received an ARC at no cost from the author” – so you might want to ask your readers to stop using the word “exchange” in book reviews.”

As a reminder, Renaissance is 99cents on Amazon. I’ve never received 20+ reviews but I am almost there! I need just one more review to reach this mini milestone. To purchase this book at just 99cents. CLICK HERE and, if you would like, I’d be honored if you could leave an honest review.

Changes to Book Review Policy: Please Read

I am a Book Blogger and have been for almost three years now. To learn more about my reviews and how to schedule yours, please visit the Book Review Policy page HERE.

Please take note of the new rule.

Gift Me a Copy of Your Book (*UPDATES*)

In the beginning, after you’ve gone through the process of submitting your book information for review and I’ve contacted you, I was allowing you to attach a MOBI or EPUB version of your book to my email for review. This has changed.

While you may submit your first chapters as attachments (See my Review Guidelines Here) I am no longer accepting attachments of the entire book sent to my email for review. I can only accept books that have been gifted to me, sent to my Kindle email or that are attached as PDF’s only.

Once you’ve registered your book and have been given the green light by me, either:

  • Gift me a copy of the book through Amazon or your platform of choice. This is the easiest most hassle-free way to get the book to me. It will automatically download to my Kindle device once I’ve redeemed it.

  • Send your EPUB or MOBI directly to my Kindle email at yecheilyahysrayl@kindle.com (I will have to approve you email so be sure to follow the guidelines before attempting to send)

  • PDF – If all else fails, you can also send me a PDF copy of the book via email (I do not accept Word Documents. Please don’t attach a doc.) This is the only attachment I will accept because I can download it to my PC and read it that way. I will no longer accept MOBI and EPUB attachments of books sent to my regular email.

(And of course, if you want to ship a paperback / hard copy that’s fine too. Just let me know in our email correspondence.)

I am currently closed to new book submissions but I’ll be opening back up soon. Please visit the Book Review Policy page HERE to learn more and to familiarize yourself with the rest of my process.

Thank you for your time and attention.

Amazon’s New Reviewing Rules – Could it Affect Authors in the Future?

Very interesting.

Sorry re-posting this had an error posting it, sorry if you saw that error 😮

amazon-447033_1280

Today Amazon.com has banned all reviews for free and discounted products unless they are done via Amazon’s Vine program.  The reasons for this are clear and understandable but what implications will this have for future selling on amazon and while books are currently exempt from this, will they always be?

I’ve been reviewing on amazon UK for nearly two years now.  I started out reviewing video games and colouring books.  For those who have read more of my blog you’ll know that reviewing items on amazon gave me a way to cope with a traumatic event I suffered.  A way to keep my mind off of everything that had happened and to focus on something else.  I began by reviewing items I’d bought but once my ranking had reached a certain level I was approached…

Free Book Reviews – New Policy Withdrawn

Quick update on my recent Book Review Policy:

Due to further thought, study, and research, I am withdrawing my readers fee from my reviews at this time. Though my reviews have ALWAYS been free, I recently implemented a readers fee to help dedicate time to the flow. However:

Due to Amazon’s strict policies, paid reviews can cause red flags for Authors and as a result, cause them to be banned from their Amazon accounts. Though methods are not clear, Amazon utilizes varies tactics to get this done. Making up the bulk of an Indie Authors sales (up to 80%) I do not want to increase, in any way, an authors chances of being banned.

I must reiterate that my reviews have always been free, however I don’t want any confusion, or take any chances, over the fee. I am humble enough to accept it was a bad move.

My main website will reflect these chances as soon as I am no longer mobile.

In the meantime, if you’re interested in me reviewing your book (Its Free) please Complete This Form or learn more about my process at the Book Reviews page above.
