EC Quote Friday

Well hello there lovelies, and welcome to week one of EC Quote Friday. I suppose it could’ve been EC quote Monday or EC quote Tuesday. However, I just made this up. No, seriously, like just now.

I love quotes. Quotes that inspire. Quotes that uplift. Quotes that bring truth, peace, and tranquil. So, I thought to myself, “Self, why don’t you start to incorporate your own quotes?” Well, I must say that self that is a very good idea!

OK, let me stop talking to myself before yall think I’m crazy for real lol hee hee.

But no, seriously, welcome to EC Quote Friday, where I’ll be posting some of my own quotes. I’m re-posting a tweak of a recent quote so these quotes can be on accord with what I post to social media. I hope that they are inspiring and uplifting to your Friday as you ease on into the weekend.

This is just an excerpt of the entire quote and its so deep to me. It’s not our failures or inabilities that stop us from going that extra mile. For many of us, its what we can do, our strengths, our gifts, and that light deep down inside of us that frighten us most.

Writer’s Quote Wednesday – Lorraine Hansberry

Welcome back to another Writer’s Quote Wednesday Segment as hosted by Colleen of Silver Threading. I have to apologize in advance for not linking up as I usually do. I no longer have to apologize since attaching the link :). I am drafting this Tuesday night and scheduling it to reach your readers by midnight CST. I’ll be out and about and won’t have the time to link until later in the day. < You can like totally ignore this sentence now. I wrote it earlier but it no longer applies. Why don’t I just erase it you say? No, I don’t want to do that. Why? Because I don’t, what’s with all the questions tho?

Anywho, this week’s quote comes from Lorraine Hansberry:

My husband and I have this saying we use when we’re joking with each other. This saying comes up usually during the times when we’re poking fun of the other or perceiving one another to be doing or saying something we were not doing or saying. If I assume for instance that he’s using the movie room to play Madden but he’s actually doing something else he’ll say, “Judge me righteously” and we’ll laugh for a good ten minutes about it. What the saying means is that if your going to judge me at all, do it right. If I’m going to assume he’s doing something then I better make sure it’s correct and vice verse. That’s what this quote made me think about as I was drafting it. Before you perceive me to be a certain way, be sure to take into account everything that lead me to be who I am. If I’m homeless for instance, make sure to consider how I got here before you laugh.

Writer’s Quote Wednesday – Zora

Welcome back everyone, to another Writer’s Quote Wednesday segment, as hosted by Colleen of Silver Threading. Today,  I draw inspiration from Zora Neale Hurston, a name I’ve been hearing a lot this week:

I’ve been reading this quote all week. Not because I’m a Hurston fan to that extent, but I have been studying her history pretty close (for a project I am not telling you about yet, don’t you just love secrets? lol hee hee )and this quote in particular keeps sticking out to me. There is so much here that I cannot begin to verbalize it all. In short, I’m at a place in my life where focus is priority. I feel really free right now with who I am. I would not say that I am content because to be content is to lose focus. Focus is loss when we think that we are where we are supposed to be and we stop striving. That said, I am not there yet; I would not say that I have reached my limit, I have a long way to go. But I do feel my faith is growing. Could be something in the air, a sense of urgency, or an alarm clock on my skin. In the meantime, I’ll just pull in the horizon like a fish net, and drape it around my shoulders.
