Thank You

When I first started this blog I always celebrated the small growth. I have learned to appreciate my journey without comparing it to anyone else’s, to clap for myself without feeling the need to explain it, and to double check that everything I do is in humility and not to feed the ego.

I have learned the importance of owning my stuff.

Owning your stuff means to own your decisions and accomplishments even if others do not deem it important.

Owning your stuff means to be proud of yourself without prefacing it with that insecure, “I know this not as better as some,” stuff.

If you can’t be proud of you, who will?

Stop lessening your value. You don’t have to be like everyone else or do what everyone else is doing. A perfect example is how everyone is going LIVE now. That is great and I love how people are being creative amid this pandemic, but you don’t have to go LIVE if it’s not you. There is no one way to be successful online.

Do what feels right with your soul first because as COVID has reminded us, life is not all about numbers, followers, likes, and it is not all about money. That is not why I acknowledge these mini milestones as I have done since I started this blog.

…but I am getting sidetracked…

Thank you for following this blog, for supporting my writing, and for being a part of this journey.

Thank you.

A Year in Reflection

I’ve done a lot of thinking the week leading up to this day about yesterdays, childhood, adulthood, change, and progression. And as the sun drifted into sleep, I could hear the whispers of the wind as the storm walked around Shreveport last night. I stood on my porch and thought again about this past year and whether or not I’ve grown any. The night was a peaceful calm despite the loud conversations going on between thunder, waving trees, and rain drops. They had a message for me I knew, and had been sent as the first to give me a birthday shout.

Thank-You

As I continue to build and to network and socialize with all of you talented people out there, I would just like to give a special S / O to everyone in the blogosphere who has supported this blog, continues to support this blog, and contributed in any way to its growth. I really do appreciate each of you. I’m twenty-eight years old today and as I grow, I hope that you can grow with me and together increase in the productivity of our writing / blogging goals. If the number eight is symbolic of new beginnings, who know what this year has in store. Perhaps I’ll live long enough to tell you about it.We’ll see.

As I prepare to release my 3rd collection of poetry next year (2015), I have to take the time to thank everyone who has supported this blog specifically for its poetry. Interestingly enough, in the attempt not to prematurely release pieces from the upcoming album, I have written a lot of new poems specifically to be featured on this blog; and as such will now be included in the book. It may seem that I’m “letting the cat out the bag”, but in all truth some of the poems that will make it to the book was first published here to this blog, and now they will also make it in the book. It would appear that blogging has in many ways helped to inspire me to write more and to compile a list of select poems I think will really speak to you, the people. I get to see which ones you really seem to like and those you don’t in an effort to make sure that this next piece is indeed a masterpiece. Blogging and Poetry…who knew?

Make it a habit to tell people thank you. To express your appreciation, sincerely and without the expectation of anything in return. Truly appreciate those around you, and you’ll soon find many others around you. Truly appreciate life, and you’ll find that you have more of it. – Ralph Marston
