Did YOU Know? ….. National Sunday Law

street-edited

The streets are empty of people, and the grocery stores void of movement. The people seemed to have vacated the Earth; perhaps they have residence on the moon. (I wonder if it really does taste like cheese.) The automobiles have stopped dragging their tires to the next corner for fear of being arrested, disassembled and then thrown into the nearest junk yard. (We do not accept gas as bail payment….sorry).
Why is Sunday’s so quite? Why do the people lock themselves inside their homes as if the taste of air itself will chock them? Why are the streets empty?

National Sunday Law

Many believe it is because it represents the seventh day of rest; a day to relax from all our labors, and to focus our thoughts on the thoughts of the almighty. But is this true? Is Sunday our day of rest? Is this why the people have vacated earth, the reason the stores have shut their mouths, and the vehicles have stopped running?

In A.D. 325 Roman Emperor Constantine held a worldwide Christian Convention with the Council of Nice. Great dissension arose among the pagans at that time about when to celebrate holidays and how to worship the Gods. Troubled by this, Constantine as the Pagan High Priest, held a convention in Nicaea in Bithynia, to which Bishops were invited from all over the world. It was a meeting that would culminate in the current Christian belief system by merging scripture with pagan beliefs in order to solidify the many viewpoints of the council and appease the Pagan priesthood. It would also result in the death of many openly Pagan groups so that the revelation that this new religion included Pagan beliefs would not be revealed. Constantine commanded that the pagan temples be destroyed and the people killed.

A Pagan is someone who worships Gods and Goddesses, or they may worship Satan altogether. As a Pagan, Constantine worshiped the sun-god Apollo, having the image engraved on his coin. Issued in A.D. 321 as part of the decreed, Constantine instituted our current legal institution of Sunday as the day of rest as a National Sunday Law; to which he called “The Lord’s Day”, or “Dies Solis”, that is, “The Day of the Sun” because he worshiped the sun-god. From this point on, people began to keep the Sabbath Day on the first day instead of the seventh day to which it was originally established according to biblical law. Constantine ordered that stores be closed and that activity of labors cease on Sunday. It was Constantine who first made a law for the observance of Sunday as the Sabbath who appointed that it should be regularly celebrated throughout the Roman Empire. Before this, as stated, everyone properly observed the Sabbath day as it was instituted by the almighty from the foundation of the world.

10_01
CONSTANTIN’S SUNDAY LAW, ISSUED A.D. 321, WAS AS FOLLOWS:– {GC88 679.1} “LET ALL THE JUDGES AND TOWN PEOPLE, AND THE OCCUPATION OF ALL TRADES  REST ON THE VENERABLE DAY OF THE SUN; BUT LET THOSE WHO ARE SITUATED IN THE  COUNTRY, FREELY AND AT FULL LIBERTY ATTEND TO THE BUSINESS OF AGRICULTURE;  BECAUSE IT OFTEN HAPPENS THAT NO OTHER DAY IS SO FIT FOR SOWING CORN AND  PLANTING VINES; LEST, THE CRITICAL MOMENT BEING LET SLIP, MEN SHOULD LOSE  THE COMMODITIES GRANTED BY HEAVEN.” {GC88 679.2}

Let me make it clear I am not a Christian (nor am I a Jew). I do however believe in the principles of the bible. As such I must say, that to observe Sunday as the Sabbath day is not in accordance with the commandment we have been given. If you believe in the bible not at all, this post does not concern you. But if you consider yourself a bible believer, and you wish to keep the commandments as they have been issued to be kept, keeping Sunday as the Sabbath day is transgressing the command to keep the Sabbath day set apart because you are actually not keeping the Sabbath set apart, you are instead observing The National Sun-day Law, and worshiping the sun.

A Bone to Pick with The Feminist Movement

images

The world as we see it, and as we know it, is a Feminine world. It is a place where women are first in everything. A place where strong men are constantly emasculated; any sign of strength taken and softened to fit the approval of clean faces and man bags. To qualify as a “good man” he must do everything for her, but she is not expected to give anything back. A man does not have the right to defend himself when his life is threatened if it includes women; yet, women are allowed to fight alongside men in brutal and violent wars. A woman cannot naturally produce seed without the sperm of a man, yet, she can abort a baby without him because it’s her body. No one will inquire of his opinion. No one will seek his feelings and beliefs. No one will bother to search out his heart about what he helped create because women do in fact, run the world. Lady Liberty is a Queen. She stands unmoved in the middle of the New York Harbor as the symbol of the world’s leading country, the United States of America; her head is covered with a crown and her arms are raised to shine the light of illumination on mankind. Even in marriage, when the two become one the man must propose on one knee; he must bow in submission of his queen.

Indeed, I have a bone to pick with the feminist movement…

Young man proposing to a woman.

As is my custom, I don’t like making these articles extremely long so we’ll cut to the chase here. I’m going to purposely skip past some information because contrary to popular belief, the feminist movement is not about innocently advocating for the rights of women in the context that we should be treated with love and respect. It is not simply a movement to help women to understand their worth as human beings and to understand the signs of abusive situations with men. Truly I wish it was that simple. But this is not what the feminist movement is about.

feminist-movement

In truth, The Feminist Movement in general has to do with authority and role reversal. Whether we are talking about a series of campaigns for reforms on issues such as reproductive rights, domestic violence, maternity leave, equal pay, women’s suffrage, sexual harassment, and sexual violence, all of which fall under the label of feminism, at its core is the desire for women to be equal in authority with men. It is women who believe they are deserving of the same level of authority as a man.

The problem however, is that when man was initially created he was given a level of authority that was not given to the woman. It does not suggest she does not possess authority, it does not mean she is inferior, and it does not mean she has no place, it just means her place does not surpass that of the man’s. He, the man, was created first, and she is his helpmate. For this reason, because he was created first, it is impossible for her to lead him. Despite whether or not his masculinity has been compromised, a woman cannot be a man and a man cannot be a woman.

565781888IMGpMQxTa_thumb
The line that separates the role of men and women have been blurred, twisted, and manipulated by members of the Feminist Movement for quite some time. It is a misunderstanding of submission and authority. It is taking abusive men and saying that men cannot be heads of households because of him. It is taking the abused woman, and saying that she is the embodiment of submission. It is giving of movies, TV shows, magazines, speeches, advertisements, music etc., and creating an image of the woman’s role of submission to that of weakness, and a form of slavery. But it wasn’t until the Feminist Movement and its portrayal of certain images and definitions of words that men and women started to take on the mindset that if a woman does not have the same exact role as the man that she’s somehow inferior. While  before these images women, especially the so called Black woman, understood the power of being on one accord and establishing order within the household.

50s-ads-1

A great misunderstanding of a woman’s role and it’s confusion with household chores also took root and became mainstream. We were taught that submissive women stayed at home, raised the children, and cooked dinner while the man worked outside the home, came home and did nothing. While there’s nothing wrong with a woman who stays at home full time to care for her family (it is a great responsibility that should not be looked down upon), as the ad suggests, it was as if a man who ruled his household like the days of old didn’t cook; it was as if he didn’t clean and had no say so in the raising of his children. As such women gravitated toward the notion of feminism because we were taught that for a woman to work outside the home it made her independent and free. The truth is however, that where a woman chooses to be of service does not define her submission. Men can cook dinner, raise the children and wash dishes and still be the head of his household. Under the same token, a woman can work outside the home and still fall under submission to her husband. It is not where she is of service, it is her attitude while of service. But, by outlining these erroneous differences, something as simple as household chores were applied to men and women’s roles. In this way, Feminist were able to craftily defend their position that if a woman is not given the same authority as a man she is being abused. Words like Obedience and Submissive got changed into images like Slavery and Fool and what woman wanted to be a fool? What woman wants to be someone’s slave? And so therefore we have women latching on to the FM under the simple understanding of equality and freedom. But what they didn’t tell us was that this freedom is to release the woman from her natural position in life as helper and counterpart to the man until she now despises this very prestigious position. She thinks she is a queen, but she has been reduced to a fool. Ironically, she has become in her disobedience the same slave she thinks being obedient to her man  makes her.

rubin04-jpg
I will soon come back to this topic when I have more time. But at the end of the day, whether we’re talking about role, duty, clothing, etc., the purpose of The Feminist Movement is to supply the woman with the same level of authority as the man. This seems innocent enough in terms of rights, but it’s deeper than that. Of course men are to respect women, but women are also to respect men. No matter how we look at this, what The Feminist Movement sets out to do is to disrupt the natural order of things.

The Reward and The Journey

“What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.” – Henry David Thoreau

A few weeks ago I posted this quote to spark inspiration on behalf of my readers because I know how beneficial such inspiration is to me and I wish to bestow, if I may, the same level of enthusiasm for others as well. While I must be honest in discerning that much of the comments appear spam like, I received some positive feedback from some of you with the suggestion that I write more on this topic. Whether you are spammers or not (which because of language barriers I am not so quick to judge), I feel that this topic is nonetheless worthy of further investigation. Do you agree with Thoreau’s statement? Is what you get by achieving your goals really not as important as what you become by achieving your goals? This is the question I would like to take this time to explore.

What is a Goal?

Clear strategy and leadership solutions
Many of you can probably think back to the day you first heard the word Goal. For many of us it was in High School and became the first indication that adulthood was not so far away as we were to define what we wanted of life. From there we set out to plan this trip to our grown-up selves as if reaching into a future calendar. This was easy, for there were so many thoughts running through our heads on what we perceived our lives to be and nothing to stand in the way of it. In a way we were a lot more faithful in our ability to achieve these successes but only because we were also a lot more naïve to the loveless and unfair world that awaited us. It never crossed our minds that the things we wanted was not as willing to accept us as we were so ready to receive it. As the lead administrator of an after-school program at a community center, I experience this with children and young adults almost daily. When I ask them about adulthood it is sprinkled with the same level of innocence; a hodgepodge of careers and successes with nothing to stop the flow of things. I wished I could sympathize with them. That I could share in their joy as if it was that easy, but we all know the reality is that it is not. But then, as young adults, we were asked to break these goals down into halves: short term and long term.

This gave us the ability to understand better the work that would go into actually reaching these goals. For if becoming a doctor was as easy as thought there would be no reason to institute the attending of medical school before actually becoming a doctor. At the same time however, thought is the mental process necessary to first bring forth an action. Ironically, as children we seemed to understand that something is obtainable simply by having a mental desire to achieve it, but as adults this kind of faith is lost to the experiences of life. We’ll come back to this later as trial and tribulation play a key role in this discussion. As not to digress, the organizing of goals into smaller and larger parts helped us to properly understand the power behind the word. We began to understand that a goal is not just something that you are trying to do or achieve, but it is something you are trying to do that you are actually making plans to achieve.

Organization

Goal_Setting
The implementation of goals in one’s life can be a powerful tool. It will allow one to organize one’s thoughts into clear and concise objectives, but you cannot set a goal to do something that you are not willing to put the effort in to get done. Otherwise it’s just wishful thinking, and you’re (as the old folk put it), just talking out the side of your neck. You’re saying a lot of words and you have a lot of ideas but if you’re not putting in the work necessary to bring them to life your just speaking idly and your ideas are useless because they have no backbone. So an organization of goals is critical if you actually plan to achieve them, otherwise they are merely dreams and you’re sleep walking:

• Be written
• Have a deadline
• Be measurable
• Be reasonable to achieve

Written

write-your-goals

The first and most important part of any goal is that there must first be a desire to achieve it in the first place. If your goals are written, either mentally or transcribed, it gives you the opportunity to look at it, to understand that they do exist, and to remind yourself of where you would like to be in your life. If your goals are not written or kept at the forefront of your mind in some way it is easy to get lost in all of the everyday traffic of life itself and never make it to your final destination.

Deadline
Speaking of destinations, make sure that your goals actually have deadlines people (in fact, goals are deadlines of themselves!) If you plan to go back to school for example, have enough discipline to put it on a calendar so you know it’s real. For me, deadlines actually work very well because it gives me the strength to endure because I know I have to get it finished or completed by a certain time. By setting it to a schedule, I am able to better work at it. Each person is different, but I think that if you set a deadline for yourself, you may be able to better work at it as well.

Measurable & Reasonable to Achieve

Long-Distance-Running-Desktop-Wallpaper

Yes! This part is important: Please don’t say your goal is to acquire a Master’s Degree at Harvard University when you are still working on getting a GED, got six kids at home and no one to babysit. That may be an extreme example but that’s how serious I am. Make sure that your goals are measurable. It’s the reason we have something called short term goals and long term goals in the first place. Create a system of steps that will ultimately lead to the next step. It is possible you can get a master’s degree at Harvard but make sure you have a High School diploma first. Crawl before you walk and walk before you run. Make sure your goals are accessible; do not place them so far in the distance that it becomes impossible to see them because then you are more than likely to make up an excuse as to why you can’t achieve them. Be real with yourself about who you are and what you want. If your lazy just admit it so that you can create a goal you know you can finish. After this, you can create an even greater goal, but don’t make up all these grandiose plans you know you’re never going to carry through.

Being Better

Each goal is a step and each step leads one closer and closer to that thing sought for. Along the way however are a series of tests, trials, tribulations, successes, and failures. At this point a person decides whether or not they have a true desire to achieve their goals, or if setting them was just something to do in the first place. The question of: how bad do you really want it? Comes into play and one is forced to then make a critical decision: do I abort my mission or do I continue moving forward? How important is it that I continue? Is continuing a personal occasion of mine or must I continue?

mountainsports1920x1080wallpaper2611
If a person decides to continue, he or she will continue to become educated on the ups and downs of the journey. As an elementary school student for example my goal was to simply graduate eighth grade. It was not an ultimate goal, but it was a goal necessary to reach an ultimate goal. But along the way were many failures, such as having to repeat the sixth grade, and failing the seventh until miraculously making my way to the eighth and graduating with honors. The feeling of having “made it” on this small scale was a great event, however the person I’d become having made it was even greater. I did not just have an eighth grade diploma, but I understood better how to carry out the lessons I once knew nothing about. In many ways I was stronger, and more mature. While it seemed sorrowful at the time, I was actually now more ready to enter High School then I was at the time the world told me I was.

opportunity-300x238
Goals are a versatile way to measure how well your life fulfills your target objective, but what you get by achieving them is not the same as what you become. Of everything I’ve been through in my life, my career choice never changed. I knew I wanted to be a writer as a child, as an adolescent and as an adult. In the end, it felt (and feels) great to hold a finished book in my hands, run my fingers across the name on the front and marvel that it belongs to me. To stand there and to say to myself: you did it, feels good and any writer  who says it doesn’t is either a liar or not a writer to begin with. However, the lessons I learned along the way and the lessons I am still learning is priceless; it does not compare. Sure one may get that dream job and make the money they want to make; one may acquire something they’ve waited a very long time to acquire, but nothing can compare to the knowledge, wisdom, and understanding that person has gained having to endure all the ups and downs that came with reaching that point. In the beginning it seems all about the finished product, until we become aware that it was all about the journey and the finished product is the reward for having completed the journey, and we are so much better than we once were. Because of this, what the person gets becomes less important than what the person has become because the person you are after having achieved your goal helps you to better appreciate what you have.

mountain20climbing20man20wallpaper__yvt2

Climbing the mountain is not just about making it to the top, it’s about understanding where and why the stumbling blocks exist along the way; it’s about tripping and falling over those stumbling blocks until you understand how to work around them; it’s about meeting people at the bottom and appreciating how important their position is to the operation and flow of the whole so that when you make it to the top you do not stand above what you are able.

I hope this article has been useful to some of you and that you were able to become better by it. Below is a final list of what you can do to better reach your goals, not just to get the reward (which is great) but to become a better person for having endured the journey (which is even greater).

• List the reasons you want to accomplish this goal
WHAT ARE THE REASONS WHY I WANT TO DO THIS?
• Identify what stands between you and your goal.
WHAT MIGHT PREVENT ME FROM ACHIEVING MY GOAL?
• Identify people and resources, which might be useful along the way.
WHO OR WHAT CAN HELP ME?
• Assign dates (deadlines) to each step in the process of achieving a goal.
WHEN EXACTLY WILL I GET THERE?

(**Remember: You must be able to realistically measure your goals. Make sure you can get there!)

Frank Morrison

This isn’t exactly an article FYI, more like a random thought (perhaps I’ll make a category for that). But, in case you haven’t noticed, I use a lot of Frank Morrison images on this blog. In fact, my avatar profile is a FM piece. I have a brother who’s a very talented artist (one day I’ll feature some of his work), but I’ve never really been into the specifics of artwork such as paintings, drawings, etc. on an intimate level. Sure, I love pictures and paintings but I’m not one to visit an art gallery (unless of course admission is free ha ha…wait, do you pay to get in or you just pay for the paintings? I have no idea, but moving on…). In the past couple years I’ve come to really enjoy FM’s work. The exaggeration of the features is amazing and I think it is one of his most obvious talents; but also the authenticity of the pictures, their realness, and their truth. The facial expressions of the African American women, the cool movements of the men, the innocence of the children, the whole culture and style of the people in general is eye catching. While I don’t agree with all of the spiritualism some of the paintings suggest, there are still enough of them to love; each picture standing alone to become a story of its own. I can so see myself writing a short story based on one of the paintings themselves. And interestingly, many of them are so perfect for what I write on this blog, especially the poetry. But it’s not much of a surprise since, in many ways, these paintings are indeed poetic and add great compliment to any work. Speaking of which, I think it’s important for writers, bloggers, and those who like to write in general, to take advantage of images alongside words every now and again because they tend to not only catch the viewer’s eye, but speak much more forcibly to the reader, causing him to actually keen in more closely to the actual text. Not that text alone can’t speak (for I am a writer and my work is not pictorial in the literal sense), but I believe mankind is a visual creation. It makes faith a great challenge since it’s the proof of what is not seen lol, but I think we can strengthen that part just by learning how to properly use images alongside text. Pictures should not dominate so that they distract away from the reading, but they should compliment the reading.

While it probably makes for a great debate on which is more beneficial for the sharing of information (visual or written), I think none of us can deny that pictures can display quite the impression, and potentially lead to the further evaluation of the written text. Just browse through any Library or Bookstore and you’ll see that books ARE judged by their covers! It’s the cover that first grabs your attention. Of course we all want for a good story, but even before you get to the synopsis of the text it’s the image on the cover that pulls you into the title and makes you read what the book is about.

So great job Morrison! Because of you I may just invest a few sheckles into an art gallery, who knows. 🙂

Unplug: Balance and Technology

balance

I have a motto in life: Balance is everything.
That said I try to maintain a proper balance in my life of all that I do because stability is foundational. If I like a particular desert I try not to overindulge. If I have a certain opinion, I try not to make that opinion law unless it is law. I enjoy exercising for example, and in so doing I try to maintain a certain body weight, but I do not believe fitness and diet itself makes one healthy entirely. I’m not going to turn exercise into some kind of religion and depend solely on salads to keep me healthy. I believe spiritual health is the key to physical fitness. If someone is weak minded it doesn’t matter how much they work out they will not survive hard times. I can store up as much water is necessary for a drought, but if I don’t possess a strong mind I will go thirsty still. That doesn’t mean however, that physical exercise is not important. It’s not always about losing weight but, as Jillian Michael’s puts it: “It’s about being strong physically so that you’re strong in every aspect of your life.” I don’t know much, but what I do know is that proper balance is everything, the lack of which can throw something off. An improper balance of one thing can cause too much or too little of something else. If you don’t drink enough water, you won’t be able to properly nourish your kidney’s. If you drink too much water, you can die (it has happened).

Today’s technology is wonderful. Because of which I am able to reach people all over the world from this blog alone. Fifty years ago we could not have fathomed what technology has become today. It has changed everything. People can attend schools online. People can shop online. People can even publish books online. The increase in technology and the way it is used today is a great tool for the visionary. People who have a vision to share and understand how to properly use technology to make manifest that vision have greatly benefited from the blessings technology has to offer. Entrepreneurs and small business owners can take advantage of today’s technology to make their businesses more efficient and effective. No longer am I sitting at a desk hand writing this article out with the intent to mail it to every single one of you, but technology has instead given me the freedom to expedite that process by way of typing into a computer. I can then copy and paste this article into my blog post without having to re-type it. Technology has done this. Needless to say I am a big fan of technology.

But like I said, balance is everything.

While technology has made it easier to be in more than one place at a time, and to instantaneously receive and give information, the pacification of technology has taken away our ability to think critically, perform the simplest of tasks without it, and can even take away our desire for self sacrifice. Today, too many of us have become lazy, the smallest of tasks we are now unable or unwilling to perform. From using a broom to hand washing clothes much of the new school generation do not know how to perform these simple chores. We are a generation who grew up on the washing machines. It is (the washing machine), a beautiful invention that I adore. I appreciate having one because I know that many families do not. But if I don’t take the time to understand how to also wash clothes on my hand, this technology has become useless. It has become useless because when my washing machine breaks, and I cannot afford the laundry mat, I cannot wash my clothes. Technology is great, but when it get to the point where we cannot do something as simple as walk down the street without factoring technology into the equation, it has become a waste of valuable time, and an electronic leash in our lives.

social_media-technology-wallpapers

With the increase of Kindle and e-books for example, many book stores have closed because of the decline in print book reading. I’m a bible believer. So it is very much convenient to have a bible application on my smart phone. It gives me the chance to have it at my fingertips without having to carry around my hard copy. But I also need to be able to see the words off screen every now and again. I need to be able to highlight scriptures and run my fingers across these words, flip through pages, etc. But while Kindles, e-books, smart phone screens and PC monitors are great, print book reading is still a valuable skill; enhancing thinking critically, engages the imagination, reflection, and vocabulary. So every now and again I enjoy a good book and try to research outside the internet (which I must say is becoming increasingly more difficult to do).

unplug_yourself_0

But I have an exercise / challenge for each of you: Every now and again (you can choose how more or less frequently), unplug. Step away from whatever form of technology is consuming a large majority of your time to the point it is stopping you from sharpening certain skills . If you don’t know how to wash clothes on your hands, let the washing machine breathe awhile. If you don’t know how to wash dishes without the dish washer, don’t use it for a few days. If you have never swept a floor, put the vacuum cleaner in the closet for a day or two. If you have lost study time because of Facebook or your husband /wife /children hate you because Twitter gets more time than they do, or your cell phone is practically attached to your hand, take a couple days and unplug.

Amazon-Fire-TV-Homescreen-002Studies show, for example, that watching TV, which we can now equate to the computer monitor and smart phone screen, tablet, etc., is equivalent to staring at a blank wall. Among the electrical waves in the brain is something called the alpha wave. It is the wave most active during sleep, creating a sense of relaxation when our eyes are closed. Studies show that this wave is most active while watching television. I like watching TV personally, and I enjoy seeing the symbolic messages embedded in some of my favorite TV shows, but I must maintain a proper balance between my TV time and study time; my TV time and praying time; my TV time and good old fashion conversation. I am not one to advocate for the complete annihilation of television. I understand the whole tel-evil-vision thing, but I think there’s a lot put out before our face that we need to know about. Much truth is revealed in movies and etc., that we often miss. At the same time, I do not think one should spend all of their time in front of the TV either, because there is also important information in books we often miss.

green-family-game-night-best-green-games-for-familyI must say again, I am a fan of technology. But I am also a woman of balance. If you can’t give up your electronic leash for a few days, you are missing out on other things that are non-technical. Technology is good, but family time, engaging with people face to face, print book reading, etch., these are all still very much needed in our lives as each provide a variety of skills and lessons to learn. Likewise (speaking of balancethose of you still living in the stone age need to also realize that technology is present in today’s world; if you are computer illiterate you should probably seek to adjust to the times and plug into a world of which you are absent. But getting back, the need to have things quickly and at our fingertips has limited so many skills on some level or another. Take a few days to step away from the screen for awhile, unplug, and you’ll be amazed at the level of calm and meditation you were able to achieve just by stepping back for awhile.

Hair and the Nervous System

The year 2009 was big for me. I moved away from home, went natural, and advocated for it by producing a documentary after watching Chri Rock’s Good Hair. I set out to do my own research and interview my own people to find out the root cause of all this hair talk. After all, if I was to maintain my natural hair, I had better know why.

Since the release of “I am NOT My Hair: Perms, Weaves, and Hot Combs,” I’ve done more and more research, and I have been able to speak with sisters from all over the U.S. about their hair journey and to offer the DVD as an opportunity to cause a change in their hair health.

Today’s article offers a few tips to help better understand this stuff on top of our heads called hair. As is my custom, I’ll split it into three separate posts.

– Hair and the Nervous System – 9/11/14
– Why Perms are Afraid of Water – 9/12/14
– Why Natural Hair is Dehydrated – 9/13/14

Hair and the Nervous System

I live in the country, and there are a lot of bugs around our home. Sometimes I can pick up their sounds before they get too close because it almost sounds like there are wasps in my hair! I have been natural for five years now, and on the left side of my head, the hair on that side can pick up the sounds of those tiny irritating bugs.

That’s because hair is a hereditary extension of yourself, is connected to your nervous system, and acts as antennae.

“Hair is an extension of the nervous system, it can be correctly seen as exteriorized nerves, a type of highly-evolved ‘feelers’ or ‘antennae’ that transmit vast amounts of important information to the brainstem, the limbic system, and the neocortex. When hair is cut, receiving and sending transmissions to and from the environment are greatly hampered. This results in ‘numbing-out’.”

While it’s fun to play around with our hair and to try different styles, hair is not some miscellaneous body part of ours, which makes us think deeply about the role of the hairdresser.

Hair and hair health is just as important as other bodily functions like skin and nails. It’s not about the style of the hair making one more or less righteous (this is not a natural vs relaxed debate), but this is more so about hair health. How to treat our hair, and what combination of hair products is more or less beneficial.

Have you ever sat down to ponder why a piece of hair can identify who you are? Why do witches use strips of hair to perform witchcraft? Or why the biblical Samson lost all of his power by letting Delilah cut off all his hair? That’s because your hair is part of you and always has been.

The ancient and native peoples knew about this link between long hair, health, and spirituality. They never cut their hair voluntarily. Short hair was a universal sign of slavery, shame, defeat, and a loss of power and identity. You are not a bad person for cutting your hair or wearing a short style. This is only to demonstrate how seriously people have always looked at hair. Many would only cut their hair in the event of captivity, for mourning purposes, or hygiene. It was seen as a way of blocking out the energies of the world.

Biblical Quotes that are actually not in the Bible

“Adam & Eve ate an apple”

Adam-Eve-2014
It actually doesn’t name the forbidden fruit, just says fruit– Gen. 3:1-6

“The 3 Wise Men”

The Three Wise Men

The bible does not give a number; it just says wise men-Matt. 2:1

“The Lion shall lay down with the Lamb”

lionandthelamb

The bible says that the lion and the wolf shall lay down together, not the lamb

– Isa 11:6, 65:25

“Money is the root of all evil”

index

Scripture says the love of money is the root of all evil, because it will become your God, you will do anything for it, and you will put it above the almighty.

– 1 Tim 6:10

“Spare the rod, spoil the child”

I know I know…this is definitely in the bible…right!?
No. The bible says that if you spare the rod you hate the child, not spoil him. The spoil part came from a 17th century poem and has been quoted as a biblical verse ever since.

“The 7 Deadly Sins”

the7deadlysins

Loosely based on Prov. 6:16-19, there is no such thing as the seven deadly sins. You will not find this in the bible.

“God has many names”

The Names of God_part1_final

Everyone like to quote this in defense of their religion, but its not in the bible that “God has many names”. It does however say that there’s only one name under the heavens given among men by which we may be saved- Acts 4:12

“The messiah was born on December 25th”

brand-black-jesus-small-30008

Yea, sorry to cancel Christmas but it’s true. It’s no where in the bible that the messiah was born on December 25th. He was actually at least 2 years old when the Magi visited and King Herod ordered his execution and his parents were commanded to hide him in Egypt.

– Matt. 2:11-13

“Cleanliness is next to Godliness”

MR.-CLEAN

There is always a reason to be clean, but this quote is not in the bible. It’s always about a man’s heart first, not his outer appearance.

These are just a few of the many biblical quotes we can be heard repeating on an everyday basis that are actually not in the bible.
