Great info for readers and authors. And if you don’t have an iPhone, or a phone period, there’s Kindle for PC or Kindle for Mac you can download for free.

Hi guys,

Just a quick post while Scandal is on commercial break. Ha, ha! Earlier today I found something that should help all of us writers with sales. You may already know about it, but because it is new to me I’m posting about it. Usually I am a girl who needs a hard copy of a book, but I needed to read a book for some research I am doing and it is only available on Amazon as an e-book. My dilemma was I don’t own a tablet.

The Amazon Kindle App for i-Phone was the answer! I decided to go ahead, order the book and worry about how  to read it later. In the past I have downloaded PDF files and a cookbook or two and been was able to view them on an i-Books App so I thought there might be a way to open a Kindle…

Writer’s Quote: Fear and Courage

I love this. Excellent words on courage and fear…yaasss.

I know I write a lot about courage and fear, but it seems to me that these are the two main things holding us back (especially as writers). Fear is an insatiable thing- the more we feed and give into it, the more it craves. And as time goes on, we lose ourselves to it. Here is where courage comes into play. If there is one antidote for fear, then it is “courage”. The amazing part is, you don’t need a bucket load full of courage in order to defeat fear. No, all that is needed is a teeny weeny bit of pluck.

Whenever fear tries to sneak it’s way in as I’m about to make a decision, I remind myself- “the worst reply I can get is ‘no'” and at the end of the day, ‘No’ is neither going to beat me nor harm me- it’s just another…

A Blogging Tip.

Great tip. I was actually just thinking about this exact thing. Keeping our primary purpose for blogging in mind is important. I’m always reminding myself to stay focused. It’s the reason my blog name is what it is. Pearls Before Swine may sound weird, but I’m not changing it because it reminds me why I’m here. In all that I do, I must not be redirected.

It’s time to take a step back. I notice a lot of people looking at wanting to know how to increase the number of people that follow them on a blog or on Twitter or some other social media outlet. Is that why you first created a blog? Or first chose THAT name for your Twitter Handle? Did you choose @psychochix666 hoping it would attract people to you? Your blog is called myrandomthoughtsaboutstuff. Very enthralling and makes me want to head right on over.

Ronovan Writes is not exactly a “come and meet me” blog title. It’s just what I do. But we all get caught up for a time in the numbers for a moment as people start following us and we see our numbers get close to a certain cool looking number. Then we go nuts.

For a time we begin writing anything we think will draw people…

Letter To: ‘The Humble’ (“Letter To” Episode #2)

Well said, excellent.

dottiedaniels's avatarThe Write Perspective

Dear Mr./Mrs./Miss. Humble,

I appreciate those instances where you thought of the things outside of yourself. You acted kindly or helped someone out and when the time arrived for your recognition and honor you chose not to place greatness on yourself but instead used the opportunity to remind others there is a greater purpose in your good actions. Beyond being thanked, which is a perfectly normal gesture, you suggest you’ll keep doing the things you do because the world needs you to. You’re doing exactly what you’re supposed to be doing.

You’re not here to gain from or exploit the world. You live within your means so as not to cause strain on anyone or anything.

You’re the exact opposite of ‘attention-seeking’ and you’re opposite of the definition of a capitalist; you have no need to benefit from the things you do. You’re able to let karma return to you in whatever fashion you’ve expressed and your own expectations…

But Everybody’s Doing It

Some good blogging advice to take with you into 2015. : )

Holistic Wayfarer's avatarA Holistic Journey

This happens not to be how I view my blogging but this metaphor is built into every one of our blogs. You’ve all done sales. Every time you’ve recommended a book, movie, or restaurant, you were doing it. And every referral of yours that someone’s followed through on showed either your delivery was good or the product sold itself. Well, here you are self-employed as a blogger, your currency not dollars and cents but time. So why isn’t your blog growing as you’d like?

1. They don’t know you’re there.
I’ve seen you put up 800, 1200 impassioned words and I’d love to see you earn more than four likes. You obviously care about your blog. It looks good. You’re open for business. But it sure is quiet. If your livelihood were at stake, what would you have made sure to do before the Grand Opening and kept up?…

The Humble Challenge

I challenge you not to think more highly of yourself than you should think in 3 easy steps:

a.  In the time of plenty, think of the time of hunger

b.  In days of wealth, think of poverty and need

c.  In the day of warmth, remember that the seasons change
